Net Pens
Rainbow Net & Rigging Limited started manufacturing nets for finfish aquaculture in the mid 80’s throughout all of Atlantic Canada. Some major players in the industry today, started with a net from Rainbow. Our net loft personnel can produce custom nets to any specification, from 20 meters to 120 meters. Both experience and hands-on approach towards quality makes us a good choice to “Confine your Investments”.
Customized Net Pens come in a variety of sizes and shapes to suit your needs. Typical nets we manufacture include circular, square, rectangular, 8 sides and even 12-sided nets all designed to meet our customer’s needs. Antifouling Treatment
Rainbow Net & Rigging Ltd offers superior aquaculture net treatment in our newly designed indoor dip tank. This facility can handle nets treated and dried quickly at a professional level of standard. We take pride in our work and offer a complete service with quality assurance measures at every level of our process. On arrival, nets are checked and noted for weight and breaking strength. Nets are then repaired and prepared for dipping. Once ready, the nets are treated in an anti-fouling solution. After treatment is applied and dried, the weight is taken once again to measure our yield ratio. All nets must pass our level of quality assurance before released.
Net Pen Covers
Nets made from nylon or poly netting, various mesh and twine sizes - Rectangular, square, round, octagonal. With or without border.
Borders can consist of rope, twine, banding (with or without grommets) and Leadline or Leaded rope.Shade cloth can be used to cover net pens. Cloth ranges from 50% to 85% depending on your requirements. Shade cloths are generally finished with grommets and can be made to any size.
HDPE Cages
The flexibility and durability of HDPE makes it the clear choice for building floating cages. With wide variety of sizes available, the options are limitless to the size of floating cages we can build. This maximizes your site to yield the highest production it can handle. The long life of the plastic insures a safe and dependable product for years of tough use. In the event of damage, one of the many benefits of HDPE is it can be easily repaired on the water with one of our portable welders. This reduces the costs of repairing damages.
HDPE Fusion Work
With this method its possible to make lengths of pipe as long as they are needed and still retain the strength and leak free features that HDPE provides. Besides floating cages, we have used HDPE pipe for supplying water to hatchery tanks. Water was siphoned out of a nearby lake with two feeds, one 18” and one 12”, reaching two depths to supply two various water temperatures.This is mixed in a mixing tank on land and fed through a 18” line which was reduced several times to the final 12” diameter. Each tank was fed from 4” HDPE welded coupling. By using HDPE pipe we can insure the safe flow of water even during the coldest months of winter. The water is able to flow the entire length of the hatchery feeding, all it’s tanks without using a single pump.
Net Cleaning
Rainbow offers professional net cleaning services to clean and disinfect used cages before repairs. Our trained staff will pressure wash the new growth off the netting and perform any repairs the net requires before shipping the completed net back to the customer ready for the water.
